Wyoming Republicans Offer Terrible Coverage Of Their Own Politics

Filed under: Wyoming — liberalicon @ 7:36 pm

Today is the day of the 2008 Wyoming Republicans’ County Conventions – their version of Iowa’s presidential caucuses. So, you’d think that the Wyoming Republicans would, today of all, have their act together.

Sadly, no. The last news item the Wyoming Republicans web site reports is from four months ago, and the results of the County Conventions are coming in late, if they’ll come in at all. The Wyoming Republicans had announced that they would have all of their results up online by 3:00 PM Wyoming time. Now, two and half hours later, many of the results still aren’t being reported.

Lesson to Wyoming residents: If you want to be represented effectively, the Wyoming Republican Party is the last place you should look.

Watch Wyoming TOMORROW for Huckabee’s Momentum

Filed under: Wyoming — liberalicon @ 5:30 pm

You’ll hear almost nothing about it in the news today, the day after the Iowa caucuses, but the fact is that the Republican race for the presidential nomination does not head next on over to New Hampshire next. It actually takes a detour on over in <a href=Wyoming, for the Republicans’ own set of caucuses, taking place… tomorrow!

A Saturday caucus in midwinter in Wyoming – how many people will show up, and how many will stay toasty in their pajamas all day? The Wyoming Democrats, more humanely, will have their presidential primary in March.

Political experts aren’t bothering to pay much attention to Wyoming, but I say this contest is one to watch. The question isn’t so much one of the number of delegates, but rather whether Mike Huckabee, who is receiving special scrutiny for seeking the support of antisemitic preacher John Hagee, will show momentum upwards or downwards after his victory in Iowa.

Given the extremist right wing Yuckabee in Huckabee, the Wyoming Republican caucuses will be well worth a look.

Wyoming EcoDolts Provide Negative Example for 2008 Presidential Election

Filed under: Wyoming — liberalicon @ 2:16 pm

For as long as anyone can remember, Wyoming voters have leaned toward the right. They have consistently voted Republican in the presidential elections, and 2008 looks like another Republican year for Wyoming.

You might think that counts as a reason for all America to vote Republican. After all, shouldn’t we listen to Wyoming’s rugged example?

Actually, no, I don’t think that we should. You see, as part of its right wing identity, Wyoming sends strongly anti-environmental legislators to Congress. In the most recent National Environmental Scorecard, Wyoming’s congressional delegation scored the lowest of any delegation in the country. Wyoming’s representatives in both the House and Senate earned a zero percent rating in the scorecard. That means that the Wyoming delegation to Congress didn’t vote to protect America’s environment on even one occasion.

That kind of stark failure, due to ideological anti-environmental extremism, provides a very good reason to vote contrary to the advice of Wyoming, and work to elect a progressive President instead.
